In this article we share a real case carried out in our workshop on an <strong>MWM TCG 2016 V16<\/strong> cogeneration engine, with one clear objective: the shortest possible plant downtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"861\" src=\"https:\/\/rsmotorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mwm-tcg-2016-v16-overhaul-block-liners-1536x861.jpg\" alt=\"MWM TCG 2016 V16 engine block with new cylinder liners fitted during the E70 overhaul\" class=\"wp-image-54100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rsmotorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mwm-tcg-2016-v16-overhaul-block-liners-1536x861.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/rsmotorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mwm-tcg-2016-v16-overhaul-block-liners-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rsmotorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mwm-tcg-2016-v16-overhaul-block-liners-1024x574.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/rsmotorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mwm-tcg-2016-v16-overhaul-block-liners-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/rsmotorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mwm-tcg-2016-v16-overhaul-block-liners-2048x1148.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/rsmotorps.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mwm-tcg-2016-v16-overhaul-block-liners-600x336.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Engine block verified and new liners fitted: the starting point of an E70 overhaul.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The challenge: a full E70 with minimum downtime<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The engine arrived at our facilities without the alternator and with a clear premise: carry out all necessary repairs within a very tight schedule to minimise plant downtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meeting such tight schedules on a major overhaul is only possible for three reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Our own warehouse with a wide stock of new and reconditioned <strong>MWM spare parts<\/strong>, which eliminates procurement delays.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Material planning and forecasting before the engine is opened.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>A technical team specialised in MWM (Deutz), Jenbacher and Guascor engines, working to documented processes.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work performed during the E70 overhaul<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">E70 maintenance involves a complete inspection of the engine. After full disassembly, every part is checked and a technical decision is made on what is verified, what is reconditioned and what is replaced. That is what guarantees the quality of the assembly, ensures the correct operation of the unit and reduces the risk of unforeseen breakdowns affecting plant performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\" style=\"border-left-color:#2fa81e;border-left-width:5px;background-color:#f3f6f8;padding-top:1.4rem;padding-right:1.6rem;padding-bottom:1.4rem;padding-left:1.6rem\">\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#00243c;font-size:1.15rem;font-style:italic;font-weight:600\">An overhaul is not swapping parts until the engine starts: it is returning the critical components to factory condition, with measurements to back it up.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">At your plant or in our workshop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This overhaul was carried out entirely at our facilities, but our team also travels to cogeneration plants to perform short, medium or major maintenance on site, including disassembly of the engine at the customer plant and its reconnection and commissioning after the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is your MWM engine approaching its overhaul?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you operate an MWM TCG 2016 or TCG 2020 engine and its E70 window is approaching, write to us.
