On this occasion, we would like to share with you one of our most recent projects carried out at our cogeneration engine repair workshop, the supply of an exchange shortblock requested by one of our clients from Portugal.
What exactly is an exchange shortblock? Let us explain. The “shortblock/longblock” or complete engine exchange program from “RS Motor,” is specifically designed to streamline and optimize the downtime of power plants, saving them the high associated costs.
In this particular case, we are working on a Jenbacher 312 engine. Our team of experts at RS Motor has carried out all the necessary processes and tasks to ensure that this engine meets the specific expectations and needs of our client. In the case of the supplied exchange shortblock, as well as in all the work we carry out at RS Motor, we ensure that each component has been thoroughly inspected and evaluated to guarantee its integrity and optimal performance.
Before being delivered, the engine block has undergone a comprehensive review process. Our team has conducted meticulous checks to detect any defects, cracks, or material deficiencies. In case any imperfections are found, we apply precision machining techniques to rectify the issue, ensuring that the block is in perfect working condition. In extreme cases where the imperfection is irreparable, we discard the block entirely to ensure the quality and reliability of our products.
All assembled components are genuine spare parts for Jenbacher engines or original OEM parts. RS Motor exclusively utilizes genuine and OEM parts to guarantee the quality of our work, ensure a longer lifespan for the engines, and reduce the risk of unforeseen stoppages that could compromise our clients’ plant productivity.
Once delivered and installed, as it is an exchange item, the customer sends their used shortblock to RS Motor, which becomes our property and is added to our inventory of spare parts. The customer-delivered shortblock includes the engine block, oil sump, and crankshaft, which will be inspected by our experienced technicians specialized in Jenbacher, Deutz, MWM, and Guascor engines. These components will undergo dimensional analysis and defect detection to assess their suitability for reuse in future projects.
During the inspection, our technicians perform dimensional analysis on each component and search for possible defects or wear. This thorough evaluation allows us to determine whether the components can be reused in future repair jobs.
