Today we present the latest work carried out in our workshop. This time, it’s an engine overhaul of a Deutz Mwm engine, specifically a co-generation engine, a TCG 2020 V12.

ENGINE OVERHAUL WITH GENUINE AND ORIGINAL SPARE PARTS

Our main objective was to do an engine overhaul and completely restore these vital components, replacing all the worn elements with genuine Deutz Mwm spare parts or original OEM parts.

The engine has arrived at our facilities from one of our clients’ plants and has been sent back to our client in the form of a longblock. This means that this engine has been received and sent with the following components:

• Engine block

• Crankcase

• Crankshaft

• Camshaft

• Piston assemblies

• Connecting rods

• Complete cylinder heads

• Oil pump

• Oil cooler

• Timing system

• Flywheel and gear ring

Other auxiliary elements such as manifolds, starter motor, coolers, water pumps, and other accessories are not included in the longblock. These minor components, which generally require less repair or maintenance, do not require the intervention of our specialized team of technicians for Deutz Mwm, Jenbacher, and Guascor engines.

These components remain at our client’s facilities during the repair process, saving not only transportation costs but also avoiding unnecessary interventions and ensuring efficiency in the repair time.

EXTENDING ENGINE LIFESPAN WITH THE ENGINE OVERHAUL

In this particular case, the engine required a series of significant repairs to restore its optimal functioning. One of the main challenges was the machining of the engine block, which had erosions in various areas. These repairs are of vital importance in an overhaul to ensure the engine’s lifespan and to ensure it meets the established operating hours until the next major maintenance.

The crankshaft and camshafts were meticulously inspected and dimensionally analysed. After this inspection, it was determined that they were in good condition and could be reused, resulting in a significant cost-saving in the overall intervention and demonstrating the quality of the original components of the spare parts for Deutz MWM engines.

We also carried out a complete refurbishment of the piston assemblies and cylinder heads in this specific project.

OPTIMAL FUNCTIONALITY AND LONG-TERM DURABILITY

The refurbishment of the piston assemblies, including pistons, rings, pins, and bearings, ensures their optimal functionality and long-term durability. These components experience a high level of wear during engine operation, and it is crucial to replace them with quality parts to ensure reliable and efficient performance.

Additionally, the cylinder heads of the engine underwent a meticulous refurbishment process. Comprehensive inspections were conducted to identify any wear, damage, or deformation. Necessary repairs were made, and worn parts were replaced to ensure optimal performance. We used only genuine or original OEM spare parts to ensure compatibility and the quality of the refurbished cylinder heads.

Once the refurbishment and assembly of the engine are completed, we conduct a hydraulic test to ensure that there are no leaks in any part of the engine. This test is essential to verify the integrity of the engine’s connections, gaskets, and seals, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

Finally, before delivering the engine to our client, we apply a primer and paint coat in our specialized paint booth. This additional layer of protection helps prevent corrosion and maintains the engine’s impeccable aesthetic appearance.
