CATERPILLAR CYLINDER HEADS IN COGENERATION ENGINE OVERHAUL
This week, we have completed a new project for reconditioning cylinder heads of gas engines. On this occasion, we have worked on the cylinder heads of Caterpillar engines, specifically on the CAT CG 170 model. These heads are also suitable for MWM TCG 2020 V12, V16, and V20.
The wear of the moving components of the cylinder heads is common with the passage of operating hours. This wear seriously compromises both engine’s performance and engine overhaul even jeopardizes its integrity, making proper reconditioning of these elements crucial in engine maintenance.
FUNCTION OF CYLINDER HEADS FOR COGENERATION ENGINE OVERHAUL
Therefore, cylinder heads are a fundamental element in the engine that requires great attention and attention to detail. The function of the cylinder heads is to seal and control the flow of gases in the combustion chamber, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance. That is why maintaining the cylinder heads in good condition is crucial to ensure that the engine functions properly and to avoid possible breakdowns that could affect the productivity of the plant.
CYLINDER HEAD RECONDITIONING PROCESS IN COGENERATION ENGINE OVERHAUL

• Replacement of valves and seats: We install new intake and exhaust valves, as well as their respective seats, as these are the parts that undergo the most wear during engine operation, using genuine and/or original OEM parts.
• Installation of a new sleeve: We place a new sleeve on the cylinder heads.
• Replacement of gaskets and O-rings: We use high-quality gaskets and O-rings to ensure optimal sealing and prevent leaks in the cylinder heads.
• Final hydraulic test: We conduct a thorough hydraulic test to verify that the cylinder heads maintain their tightness correctly and do not exhibit any leaks.
• Priming and painting: We apply a layer of high-resistance primer and paint to protect the cylinder heads, ensuring their durability and maintaining their aesthetic appearance. In this case, the applied colour is the original yellow of Caterpillar engines.
