Today, we present our latest task at RS Motor’s workshop for repair of cogeneration engines and marine engines, specialists in spare parts for Guascor engines, Jenbacher and Deutz MWM. We are pleased to share another successful project, the recovery and refurbishment of a component from a Guascor engine, specifically the crankshaft belonging to an SFGLD 240 engine.

In this specific case, our focus was on the recovery of surfaces affected by corrosion. The crankshaft showed signs of corrosion due to incorrect disassembly and storage, with particularly affected areas in the rod bearing journals exhibiting a higher level of rust.
The restoration process began with the removal of surface rust, revealing erosions in some areas. To address this issue, a high-precision polishing was carried out. This machining was performed with spare parts for Guascor engines and a great accuracy to minimize material wear, avoiding the need for oversized corrections that might require special bearings.
A fundamental step in the process was the disassembly of the counterweights to facilitate the necessary machining on the crankshaft. Once the work was completed, the masses were reassembled, replacing the screws with new original spare parts for Guascor engines. The crankshaft repair was finalized with a balancing process to ensure optimal performance, preventing vibrations and imbalances that could lead to overloads and fatigue in other engine components.
The experience gained in this project emphasizes the importance of proper maintenance and careful handling of components, especially critical ones such as the crankshaft.
