Engine maintenance service of Guascor FGLD 240

Recently, RS Motor has completed the R3 engine maintenance service on a Guascor FGLD 240 engine. The R3 maintenance is the most comprehensive one performed on Guascor engines and is also known as an overhaul. In this case, the engine was sent to RS Motor’s facilities where the maintenance tasks were carried out. RS Motor offers the possibility of performing interventions both at our customers’ plants or vessels and at our own workshop. After disassembly, a meticulous inspection of all engine components is carried out. The main repairs, replacements, or refurbishments that were performed are as follows:

• Replacement of main bearings.
• Replacement of the oil pump and water pump.
• Replacement of pistons and liners.
• Refurbishment of connecting rods, dimensional analysis, and replacement of small end and big end bearings and bolts.
• Refurbishment of cylinder heads.
• Verification of the condition of the engine block and crankshaft.
• Replacement of the camshaft.
• Replacement of the tappets.
• Refurbishment of the turbocharger.
• Standard inspection of the generator/alternator.
• Refurbishment of the intercooler.
• Refurbishment of the oil cooler.
• Replacement of spark plugs, ignition coils, and ignition cables.
• Replacement of oil filters and air filters.
• Replacement of the torsional vibration damper.
• Replacement of the starter/motor.
• Cleaning of the thermostat valve and replacement of thermostats.
• Full painting.

Taking advantage of the maintenance downtime, an upgrade of the fuel mixture and speed regulation system was performed. This involved implementing the latest model of Motortech’s ITB throttle body, VariFuel gas mixer, and All-In-One NTC control system.
