Mixing regulation

In many countries around the world, alternative fuels such as biogas have become an important source of electricity production due to their consumption in gas engines. Due to changing gas qualities, the demand for more sophisticated air/gas mixing equipment has increased. To alleviate these quality fluctuations, RS Motor offers its customers electronically controlled mixing valves and butterfly valves to control gas engines in a more sophisticated way.

The EmCon5 is a lean-burn emission controller for gas-fired CHP units. It is designed to control exhaust emission levels based on indirect measurements. Simply three input signals are required for the control purpose: manifold inlet pressure and temperature and engine load. A CH4 input signal is optional. The use of an oxygen sensor is not required.
After initial measurements of the engine emission levels and a successful analysis, the EmCon5 ensures optimum operation of the gas engine within the predefined emission limits.
All controller parameters are freely programmable.

VariFuel2 is a high-tech, variable Venturi-type air/gas mixer that can constantly adjust to any fuel change and allows the engine to run efficiently. The 100, 140, 200, 250, 250, 300 and 350 series are available for engines with an air demand of up to 12,000 m3/hr. Coupled to an air/fuel ratio controller, lean or stoichiometric mixture, it precisely regulates the mixture. VariFuel2 is very popular for applications with constant changes in the calorific value of the fuel.
VariFuel2 air/fuel mixers are equipped with a high-precision stepper motor that is extremely precisely driven by the VariStep3 stepper motor controller. Different bodies and variable gas inlet and mixing outlet configurations allow flexible adaptation of the gas mixer to the application.
The Varifuel2 and VariFuel2+ air/gas mixers are suitable for a wide range of gas types (natural gas, biogas, sewage gas, coal mine gas, syngas…).

Within a speed control system, a throttle valve is used to regulate the supply of the gas/air mixture and thus the speed and power of a gas engine.
ITBs (integrated butterfly valves) are equipped with an integrated stepper motor, which eliminates the use of an external actuator. The stepper motor is driven with extreme precision by the VariStep3 stepper motor controller in combination with the SC100 speed controller.
